Our bodies were born out of wombs that were born out of wombs that were born out of wombs, tracing back to the primordial mud swirlings of our womb planet. This looping video installation affirms the earth and the womb as the ultimate gatekeepers of life, death, and rebirth. The images in the installation are created directly from the surface of the earth using a process of stop-motion animation. The figures are inspired by Sheela-na-gigs, carvings of naked women displaying exaggerated vulvas that were frequently positioned over doors of castles and churches in the Middle Ages throughout Europe.
